Drenched in Nemophila Blue: A picnic at Hitachi Sea side Park

2026-05-07

The Golden Week holiday had officially ended, but the group of best friends wasn't ready to stop. Today was a special day off, and Lyn had a magnificent plan: a picnic at the world-famous Hitachi Seaside Park!

"Happy Thursday, everyone! Today, we go see the Nemophila flowers!" Lyn cheered, clapping her hands.

Lyn looked lovely and ready for fun in a casual peach jumper dress over a crisp white t-shirt. Her light brown hair with bangs was neatly tied up. Linda looked perfectly stylish in a bright pink blouse and blue jeans.

The pets were ready too! Star, the Akita Inu, wagged her red tail, already wearing her best cream-colored lace dress. But the funniest sight was Pinkysan. After many tries, the calico cat was successfully dressed in a miniature light blue dress with tiny frills.

"Mew... mew?" Pinkysan tilted her head, looking at her new outfit, then trotted after Lyn, her blue frills swishing.

The drive was full of excitement and Purr purr noises. When they arrived, the view was even more breathtaking than image_37.png's mountain vistas. The enormous hill, called Miharashi no Oka, was a rolling, seamless ocean of brilliant blue flowers. 4.5 million blooming Nemophila (Baby Blue Eyes) met their eyes!

The moment they stepped onto the hill, Pinkysan decided her heavy, first-class tote bag (which she usually occupies) was not necessary. She made a decision with a happy Mew! and leaped with unexpected joy directly from the bag.

Pinkysan took a small ran Tap tap tap among the flower rows, her blue dress blending perfectly with the ocean of Baby Blue Eyes.

"Look, Linda! Where is she? She blends perfectly!" Lyn burst out laughing, trying to find her cat.

"She is a true flower fairy now!" Linda joined in the laughter. Flower mew! Mew so flowery! Pinkysan thought, hiding and peek among the blue petals.

While Star gently explored the edge of the blooms, her cream dress contrasting with the blue, Lyn and Linda found a perfect spot near the hill with a magnificent panoramic view. They set up the colorful picnic mat, identical to image_1.png, and laid out the obento boxes.

Chomp chomp gulp. They ate their special ebi obento (with crispy fried shrimp!), a fresh green salad, and sweet cherry tomatoes.

After eating, they sat and watched the sea of blue, the sun warm on their faces. Aki-san Golden Week perfectly! indeed happy! Linda smiled. It was the perfect moment.

But suddenly, the bright sky began to change. A deep noise—Rumble, rumble—sounded in the distance. The gray clouds covered the sun. SFX: Drip... Drip... Drip...

Pitter-patter-splash! A heavy spring shower began.

"Rain! It's raining!" Linda cried. "We need to run!"

They quickly began to pack the wet mat and obento containers. Everyone’s clothes were wet, and Star’s cream dress was getting messy with mud. SFX: Splash splash! Squelch!

Instead of being sad, Linda stopped packing. She looked at the fresh rain on the blue flowers, then looked at Lyn. "Lyn, this is a fun event! Let's play!"

Linda grabbed Lyn’s hand and they began a happy ran through the empty park paths. They twirled and laughed, water splashing from their feet. Star wagged her red tail and jumped in a small muddy puddle with a happy Woof!, her cream dress completely covered in mud. Mud mud mud mud!

Even Pinkysan decided it was better than hiding. She ran alongside Star, her wet blue dress flapping. Wet mew!

Finally, they reached the blue hatchback car, completely drenched. But they were still laughing.

When they got home, the fun was over and the careful work began. Everyone immediately took a warm, thorough shower to wash away the mud and the cold. Lyn and Linda dried the pets, giving them a long, full-body brush.

After showering, Lyn made special sweet ginger tea. She carefully gave everyone, including Star and Pinkysan (just a tiny sip!), their medicine so they wouldn't catch a cold from the rain. They all huddled on the sofa, feeling warm and clean. Indeed happy! indeed warm! Indeed wet! Aki-san happy perfectly!

Golden Week was over, but this drenched-in-blue picnic adventure was a memory they would treasure.
