The Masterpiece of Spring

2026-05-12

The afternoon sun streamed through the living room windows, casting a warm, golden glow over the house. Outside, the spring breeze carried the scent of blooming jasmine. Inside, Lyn was feeling inspired.

Lyn, with her light brown shoulder-length hair and neat bangs, sat cross-legged on the colorful rug. She was dressed for a messy, fun day in a white t-shirt and denim skirt jumpers. In her lap was a fresh, white sketchbook.

"The flowers this year are too beautiful to forget," Lyn whispered to herself. She picked up a colored pencil and began to draw the tulips and hydrangeas she had seen during the Golden Week festivals. She worked with great focus, carefully shading the petals until they looked like they might pop off the page.

Nearby, Star the Akita Inu was watching Lyn with curiosity. Star was wearing a lovely peach-colored dress that made her look very elegant. Lyn looked at Star and then at a large sheet of paper on the floor.

"Do you want to help, Star?" Lyn giggled. She placed a shallow tray of non-toxic, colorful paint on the floor.

Star wagged her tail, understanding the game. She stepped one large paw into a puddle of sky-blue paint and then walked slowly across the paper. Tap, tap, tap. Next, she dipped a paw into sunset-orange. Soon, the paper was covered in a rhythmic pattern of colorful paw prints. It wasn't just a mess; with the overlapping colors, it looked like a masterpiece of modern art!

Pinkysan, the calico cat, walked around the edges of the paper. She tilted her head, looking at the drawings and the paw-print painting with clear admiration. She let out a soft Mew of approval before trotting toward the kitchen.

In the kitchen, Linda was busy preparing merienda, or afternoon snack. She looked peaceful in her cream-colored house dress and white apron. Pinkysan rubbed against Linda’s legs, acting like a tiny kitchen assistant.

"Is it time for a break, Pinkysan?" Linda asked with a smile.

Linda soon appeared in the living room carrying a tray of delicious, fluffy pancakes topped with golden syrup and butter. Beside the plates were tall glasses of fresh orange juice. The sweet smell of the syrup filled the room.

"Time for merienda!" Linda announced.

Lyn closed her sketchbook, and Star sat proudly next to her paw-print painting. They all ate together, enjoying the delicious food and the creative atmosphere. As they ate, Lyn thought about how lucky she was. Whether she was working at the hotel or painting at home, every day was a fun event when she was with her best friends.

"I’ll have to show this to John next time he visits," Lyn thought happily, her face turning a bit peach-colored just like Star’s dress. It had been a perfectly creative Sunday.
