The Night time Garden Concert

2026-06-06

The heavy June rain had been pouring down all day long, turning the backyard into a lush, wet wonderland. By nightfall, the steady downpour had slowed to a gentle drizzle. Inside the warm living room, Pretty Lyn—with her neat bangs and long, light brown hair—was sitting comfortably on the sofa, thoroughly enjoying her favorite television show.

Suddenly, a loud, rhythmic chorus of "Ribbit! Ribbit! Croak!" erupted from the dark garden outside. It wasn’t just one or two voices; it sounded like an entire musical band had taken over the yard!

Down on the floor, Star, the fluffy female Akita Inu, and Pinkysan, the beautiful calico cat, were both wearing their cute little denim jumpers. They stopped what they were doing and froze, staring intently at the dark glass of the living room window. Their ears twitched in confusion. What on earth was making that strange, noisy racket?

Curiosity getting the better of them, the two pets scrambled over to the sofa and looked up at Lyn with wide, questioning eyes.

Lyn chuckled, sensing their bewilderment. "Do you want to see who is putting on the show?" she asked.

She stood up and opened the sliding glass door, leading Star and Pinkysan out onto the covered terrace. The cool, damp night air rushed in, along with the booming sound of the frog symphony. Right beneath the terrace, sitting proudly on a wet hydrangea leaf, was a tiny bright green tree frog, puffing up its throat to sing.

Pinkysan’s eyes went completely round. Instead of being scared, she became incredibly excited! The playful calico cat began jumping up and down on her hind legs in her denim jumper, batting at the air.

"Wow, that's a frog! We can sing together!" Pinkysan chirped happily with an enthusiastic meow, trying to match the rhythm of the croaks.

Lyn burst out laughing at Pinkysan's musical ambitions. "I don't think they need another singer, Pinkysan," Lyn giggled. She then knelt down to comfort the pets and explain the science behind the noise. "You see, frogs absolutely love the rainy season. Because their skin is very thin, they need constant moisture to breathe and survive. When it rains, they come out to find food and look for mates. This loud concert is actually the male frogs calling out to the females!"

Just then, Linda stepped out onto the terrace to see what all the fun was about. She leaned over the wooden railing, peering into the bushes, and began pointing her finger.

"One... two... three... four... five!" Linda counted cheerfully, her voice filled with amusement. "No wonder they sing so loudly! There are five frogs out here having a major battle of the bands!" Linda laughed, thoroughly entertained by the garden performers.

However, not everyone was a fan of the music. Star stood stiffly by Lyn's side, her tail lowered. Suddenly, she let out a sharp, loud bark at the bushes, as if to say, "Hey! Turn down the volume! We are trying to listen to the TV!" She clearly did not appreciate the frog symphony.

Lyn smiled and patted Star's head gently. "Alright, big girl, I hear you. The concert is a bit too loud for your sensitive ears." Lyn turned back to the group. "Let's just go inside, close the door, and continue watching our show in peace."

With Pinkysan giving one last wave to her new green friends and Star hurrying back to the safety of the couch, the family went back inside, leaving the five little frogs to finish their rainy night masterpiece under the stars.
